Escape Rooms you can take Home
Want to have some Escape Room fun without leaving your house? With tabletop game series like “Unlock” and “Exit” you can! You can even purchase those games and a variety of other fun puzzlers at your local Puzzle Effect location. The fun doesn’t have to stop when you walk out the door!
The Unlock Series
Unlock games come in a variety of different themes and difficulties, and are a great introduction to the genre. Once you’ve picked a game and set it up on the table, it’s time to get solving. Each game comes with a deck of numbered cards, and starts with an illustration card. That first card will have a scene depicted on it with hidden numbers and puzzles that lead you to the other cards in the deck. The game even interacts with an app on your phone where you can track your time and solve additional puzzles!
The Exit Series
Exit games are just as fun as unlocks but a little more hands-on. You’ll start the game with a booklet of riddles and a decoder disc to help you enter in codes. Exits will have you cutting up cards, arranging puzzle pieces, and maybe even interacting with things outside of the game itself. Exits can be much trickier than Unlocks, but if you’re up for a challenge they’re a great choice!
One Time Only
Keep in mind that these games have an answer that doesn’t change, so you can only play them once. However, Unlock games can potentially be passed off to another player, or played again after you’ve forgotten the answers, as you’re not cutting up or writing on game pieces. Think of them as a cheap escape room experience you can enjoy with the whole family, all without leaving your home!
